Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983. Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. She was born in Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of school after her parents split up to move to Los Angeles to live with her mother. In 2001, despite her finances she managed get her first significant role in the online video series Rachel's Room playing the principal character. In 2002, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. She was the main character for two seasons and also won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the show to concentrate on her film career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 and in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. In 2008, she played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost in the series, which included the conclusion. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season that aired from 2013 until 2014. She plays Faith as a groupie as well as a model for actors. Hank Moody is played by David Duchovny. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal Family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also she co-starred alongside her brother in Donnie Darko the popular cult movie. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the love story Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently starred in the comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Her other roles include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) and The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she received The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
