Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. As a child she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma decided to be an actor when she was six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. As part of a school production and the stage of a Stagecoach show, she was her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was found by agents through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It beat all previous records on its opening and weekend ticket sales, and it was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Reviewers praised the film, and especially those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma was later awarded five prizes for her performance in the film.
